The past few weeks have gone by so fast. This time last month I was sure that I was trapped in purgatory and my punishment for anything I'd ever done wrong was to pack, carry heavy boxes up and down stairs and clean for 1000 years.
To say the final push to get out of the house was taxing is an understatement. The song, " you find out who your friends are" kept playing in my head for a week. Actually I already knew and didn't have any surprises lol.
Taking the boat out of the boat house to head over to the Chris Chraft Rendezvous was exactly the confidence boost I needed to feel like I was not crazy and I can really do this. The next test came two weeks later when I decided to take the boat out of its "house" and on a trip solo. I did ask a neighbor at the yacht club to help me cast off my lines but otherwise, it was just me and Ted headed off into the sunset.
When my cousins were out to visit on their way off on their Alaskan Cruise, I scoped out the Elliott Bay Marina right next to where the Princess Cruise line docks. I decided that would be a goal...build up enough confidence to come spend some time there at some point during this adventure. What felt like a pipe dream a couple of months ago somehow became my first outing.
I'll admit I was a little self conscious having the little wood project boat in the middle of about 200 no shit fancy yachts but it was a blast. The view of Seattle was amazing, everyone was so nice, and the cherry top....live music, free booze and hot-dogs. lol
It was such an amazing trip.Diana, Dan, Stella and Dax came over to hang out and spend some time, which was my motivation for making the trek to Seattle...to meet them coming in from their cruise.
Getting in and out of the marina was unlike anything I've done...huge marina, very crowded, lots of boat traffic. I was alert but not afraid. I have been working to keep up the mantra I heard just before IMTA in NY and I'm sticking with it. I am not nervous, I am excited.
On the way back to Port Orchard, I got a text from a friend I haven't seen in ages with a picture asking, "is this you?!?!" and it was! So I also got a great souvenir pic from land of our first big outing.
